| July 13-20, 2010 Another Trip to L.A.!! During a week long stay in Los Angeles I had the opportunity to meet and be interviewed by artist Sandra de la Loza who is creating an installation for LACMA as part of the Pacific Standard Time exhibitions scheduled for 2011. I also met with Karen Rapp, director of the new Vincent Price Art Museum, in preparation for the opening exhibition in which I will participate. No trip tp L.A. is complete without seeing friends! Below are photos taken at the studio of master L.A. muralist Kent Twitchell and a roof top dinner at the downtown loft of Prof. Ramon Garcia with legendary artists Patssi Valdez, Gronk, and archivist Tere Romo.

May 13, 2010 National Museum of Mexican Art, Chicago, IL The National Museum of Mexican Art honored the legendary Mexican journalist and novelist Elena Poniatowska with the Sor Juana de la Cruz Legacy Award. She was introduced by her dear friend novelist Sandra Cisneros ("The House on Mango Street"). It was my privilege to to sit at their table during the luncheon and chat with them.
March 29, 2010 Kent Twitchell's Studio, Los Angeles While in L.A. I visited with my old friend, the renowned Los Angeles muralist Kent Twitchell. We met for breakfast at one of L.A.'s landmark eateries. the Eastside Market Deli. Kent's friend, photographer Gil Ortiz, who is a longtime friend of the Eastside Market Deli owners, made sure were treated to an incredbile meal while we sat around and swapped great stories. Gil, who is a well-known photographer in L.A. (worked in NYC for many years) was nice enough to document the visit by taking some portrait shots of Kent and me in Kent's studio. There will soon be anothe Kent Twitchell mural in L.A.!! Kent recently won the coveted mural commission for Patriotic Hall. His plan is to us all American veterans as his models. On the left is a photo of Kent "back in the day". I took this photo of him on the scaffold when he was painting his "Six L.A. Artists" mural in Torrance, CA. (circa 1978-79)
